Had you won the lottery, where would you travel?

Let me give you a few choices of what you could have done...

#1.  Spend $200,000 for a Virgin Galactic joyride in space, once available.  Read all about the 2.5 hour soon-to-be trip on our blog HERE.

#2.  You could always start small by spending 24 days and $68, 950 per person to fly around the world by private jet with Alex Trebek and National Geographic Expeditions.  Read more about it HERE.

#3.  How about a cruise costing you 1.5 million?  That price buys you 124 nights on the "worlds most luxury 124 day vacation" according to the cruise company, Silversea Silver Whisper.  It features private jet and helicopter transfers and takes off January 4th, 2013.

Wi-Fi-nally! Amtrack trains in Cali get WiFi

I live in California and I saw this commercial pitching new WiFi on all California Amtrak trains.  COOL!   The last time I was on a Amtrak was a few years ago running down to San Diego from Los Angeles and it was a pretty good trip!

In fact, the train we rode even had plug in spots for your devices.  That's traveling in style.

Check them out further at: www.amtrak.com/wifi.

Appleton 21 year old Rum

Rum that's 21 years old...let's do the math.  It's 2012, 21 years ago would put you in 1991.  President Bush Sr was president and the Gulf War was in full swing.  Also, Appleton, in Jamaica, was creating this rum.

You can buy it for 129 Euro over at www.thewhiskyexchange.com.  At the time of this post, 129 Euro is around $172 in American cash.  Yikes!  This might make it a "save it for a very special occasion" bottle of rum in our house.

Got $18,000 to blow on a hotel room, for one night?

Then head on over to Dubai's Burj Al Arab "Royal Suite."   For the bargain price of only 18k you get this pimping suite for one night.  Perks include your own private elevator, private cinema and "Chauffeur driven Rolls Royce, Mercedes-Benz or helicopter transfers available at a charge."   Jezz, you think they could have tossed in a lift in a Benz for that price.

You know the hotel, it's the one that looks like a big sailing ship, PHOTO.  It's also the one where Andre Agassi & Roger Federer played a tennis match up on the helipad, YOUTUBE CLIP.

Check out their official site at:  www.jumeirah.com/suite.

A wicked cool pirate history clip

Order crotchless panties at Hard Rock in Vegas

The Hard Rock Casino in Vegas has an erotic boutique called Love Jones to where guests of the hotel can order love packages 24/7.  A "Get Love" pamphlet was distributed around the hotel a few weeks offering such goodies as a peek-a-boo bra for $48 to a $30 blindfolds.

One of the most popular items?  "Turn me on" vibrating panties.  They're panties with a small vibrator appropriately placed with a remote control to operate them.  Fun for couples indeed!  The cost?  $146!  Yikes.   Look below for a link for a pair you can order and enjoy at home for $99.50.

Guess what this blogger bought?

The new I-Pad!   Weeeeeeeeeee...

That's right, I picked up the new I-Pad on Friday from our local Apple store.  I was surprised that there wasn't big lines, but maybe that's cause I went at 11am - 3 hours after the "rush."  Anyway, first impressions:  The screen is HD, bright and feels good.  It's a speedy machine with plenty of battery life.  Out of the box I used it for about 10 hours.

Will I use it when I travel?  But of course.  It's a great tool to read books with, stay in touch with friend/family/work, music and video.  I got the WiFi only unit so I'll need to be near a source or lug along my Virgin MiFi unit.

It's not out on Amazon.com yet, but when it does, the prices will start off at $499.  Is it a good purchase?  YES!   That's unless you have an I-Pad 2.  If that's the case I think I'd wait for the next big I-Pad release, which knowing Apple, will be sooner rather than later.

A new hotel is set to open Downtown Vegas

Vegas has two parts of town.  #1.  The famous Strip with all it's glam, big casinos and action.  #2.  Downtown with the Fremont Street Experience, a few older hotels and up and coming casinos.   The newest hotel to open (re-open) up is "D" which is a 683 room hotel with a casino, dancers and great views.

(Rooms will have pillow-top mattresses, flat-screen
TVs, iPod docking stations, Wi-Fi and more)

The new D used to be Fitzgeralds Casino & Hotel, but it's been completely remodeled into a new pimping hotel.   A a press release says It will offer dancing dealers, state-of-the-art sound system, a two-level casino, modern slots on the first floor, plus campy vintage ones on the second.  Booo-ya!

The best part?  The rates.  They'll probably be $59 weekdays and $99 weekends giving Vegas visitors new options for both affordable yet fun.   Check out: www.vegaschatter.com/D, for more info about the coming hotel.

Rihanna flashes NYC

Rihanna is pretty much going nuts these days.  Just a few nights ago she decided it was a good idea to go out for dinner at a schwanky NYC Italian restaurant wearing a top that was pretty much transparent.  And when about 400 pap's showed up with their flashbulbs on the cameras, the top became completely transparent.

At least this mistake is a lot better than her hooking back up with that punk Chris Brown.  >:-0

Febreze Meadows and Rain Candles

Sticky hotel rooms BE-GONE!   I've posted about these before and I'm doing it again because they're the bomb.  We've recently booked another trip for Negril (more on that later) and I'm super pumped up about it.  It's all about the anticipation of the trip.  The smell of the ocean, the sunsets, the great food.  And a nice candle burning in the evening after a great night out.

These candles not only smell good, they actually eliminate odor!  Perfect for when you travel.  You get get this 6-pack delivered from Amazon for $32 bucks.  Beings each candle burns for about 80 hours, you're covered for an entire week of travel and extra for home!  (take 2 with you on the road)

Apple's first computer...

This post has nothing to do with travel, unless you're looking at time travel.  I found an ad for Apple's very first computer, the Apple I.   It was released out of Steve Jobs parents garage, Google Map, back in 1976.  The cost?  $666.66, what's up with that?  #1.  It seems like a lot of money back then, especially for a computer that didn't even come with a keyboard, monitor, case or power supply.  #2.  $666.66?  I always try to avoid that number.  Strange.

(Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs with a Apple I)

These days the Apple I is a big time collectors item.  In fact, a unit sold in $213,600 in 2010 because it not only included the computer itself but a lot of original packaging.  Included were:  the original packaging (with the return label showing Steve Jobs' parents' address, the original Apple Computer Inc 'headquarters' being their garage), a personally typed and signed letter from Jobs (answering technical questions about the computer) and the original invoice showing 'Steven' as the salesman.

Maybe the $666.66 price was worth it, if you'd had the hindsight!

A bikini model at Hedonism II

Here's a fresh video from Hedonism II out of Negril, Jamaica that features bikini model Samantha Harris.

Man, that's one super small bikini!  It looks like most of it was filmed on the "prude" side of Hedo II which these days can still host nudity.

A cool travel product for your laptop

Every traveler needs a Tripad® Traveler.  The Tripad® Traveler makes a desk as portable as a laptop.  The Traveler is a shelf so compact and lightweight, it easily fits in a laptop case.  It quickly mounts to the handles of most types of rolling luggage, making for a much more comfortable on-the-go work environment than stooping over a laptop.  Made in the USA of lightweight but high-tensile-strength polymer, it weighs less than 3 pounds but can support as many as 10 pounds.

  • Mount the Tripad® Traveler on luggage to set up a portable desk in an instant.
  • Makes a handy lap desk when not mounted on luggage.

March 10th is National Passport Day

If you can't stand the idea of waiting FOREVER to get a passport, this story might peak your interest.  March 10th, 2012 is National Passport Day here in America.  What's that mean?  On that date, U.S. citizens are allowed to apply for U.S. passports without an appointment.

Head over to one of the regional offices and fill out the paperwork, then choose standard processing (4-6 weeks) or pay an additional $60 for expedited processing (2-3 weeks, door-to-door).

For more info, go here:  www.travel.state.gov/passport.

A babe on the beach with booty

Summer 2012 is almost here. But in places like Miami Beach, it's already on! Check out this pic of a babe on the beach somewhere in Miami.

She could be at Haulover, but she's not 100% naked. Not that you have to be nude at Haulover, just wishful thinking.

Study shows pilots get less sleep than other workers

A new poll by the National Sleep Foundation has shown that our trusted airline pilots get less sleep than your average worker in America.  About one-fourth of pilots, or 23%, admitted that sleepiness has affected their job performance at least once a week, the poll found.

What's also scary is that 1 out of 5 pilots have admitted "serious errors" while working on the job.

Most of it is related to the busy schedule demanded onto them by airlines.  While most (58%) pilots take cat naps during the days that they work it'd also be nice if they could have more regulated sleep schedules.

There is a Jeffery Dahmer walking tour today in Milwaukee

If you're hanging around Milwaukee today you should run over and take the Jeffery Dahmer 90 min walking tour.   The sick and twisted tour walks you thru some of the South side Milwaukee bars where Dahmer used to find his prey.

The tour costs $30 bucks but users of Groupon might have seen the "once in a lifetime" deal (two tickets for $25) that was being offered.

(Groupons screenshot of the sold-out special)

Dahmer used to visit gay bars in the Walker's Point neighborhood where would look for victims.  In the end, Dahmer was convicted of killing 17 young men and boys.   He was beat to death in 1994 in prison.  That's called street vigilantism!

TFIG - this blogger has been BUSY!

Hey fans of travel!  This blogger has been busy the last few weeks so I've missed a few daily postings.  I have no official policy of posts per week/day but I do try to find interesting topics and bring them to you.

I'll get more on it and post more regular topics.  At this point the blog has over 1,000 postings, which is pretty good.  But as long as the world of travel has news and reviews to be done, this blog will keep going.

Have a great weekend y'all!  Mine's about to start with a super cold and tasty rum and Coke.   Cheers.

March 1st is Google Privacy-be-Gone Day!

This has NOTHING to do with travel, but it has everything to do with Google.  First off, I love Google and all of it's products.  But today marks the day of some serious changes to your privacy.

From here on out, your privacy is less...well, private.  Most of the changes are to help Google gather information about YOU.  Your surfing habits, what sites you look at, photos, videos, etc.

To stay more private...

#1.  Keep on using Google Products, just don't sign-in.  If you're just using Youtube or Google Search (or other products) you can just use them without being signed onto Google.  That's the easiest way.

#2.  If you're like me and use ALL things Google, then login but make a few adjustments.  Users can turn off the setting that allows Google to record their search history. To get to this menu, go to www.google.com/history or head to the “Account Settings” menu from the top navigation bar you see when signed in to your Google account. Scroll down to the “Services” section. From here, you can pause, edit or remove all Web History. On some accounts, you can also go to the “Products” section of your account settings and click the “Edit” link next to “Your Products.”

#3.  And lastly, you can always use Google's browser, Chrome and select “Incognito Mode.” Then your history won’t show up in your browsing or download histories.

For ultra privacy freaks you can then top off any of these actions by clearing your history in whichever browser that you're using.  Kill it all, cashe, history, cookies, etc!

I'm not DB'ing Google.  I love Google, but you can adjust it according to your online taste.
