What's up with the lack of posts?

I'll give you three decent reasons...

#1.  Blogger changed it's format and I'm just getting to relearn it.

#2.  I've been super super busy with my "real job."

#3.  I've been in Las Vegas at the Aria resort.  Call it market research.

:-)

More, and exciting, post coming!

Breezes Runaway sold to Sagicor Insurance

Breezes Runaway, a 226 room hotel in Runaway Bay Beach, has just been sold from Superclubs to insurance group Sagicor.  Sagicor used to own Breezes Runaway till they sold it to Superclubs back in 2003.  The sales price is unknown at this point.

In a joint statement issued yesterday, SuperClubs and Sagicor said they will be working together to ensure a smooth transition of ownership with no interruption to service. The employees of the hotel will all receive redundancy packages from Breezes and be available for rehire by the new operators.

SuperClubs now operates 10 properties in four countries including Breezes Bahamas, Breezes Bœzios Resort & Spa in Brazil, Breezes Varadero, Breezes Bella Costa, Breezes Jibacoa in Cuba.  Also two resorts that I've been to: Hedonism II in Negril and Breezes Grand Resort & Spa Negril.

Haha, cruise on a Vegas "hangover" bus

Leave it to Las Vegas to come up with new wacky ideas.  Now a company is providing a "hangover" cruise where you'll be able to cruise up and down the strip in a cushy bus while making stops at Paris Las Vegas, the Bellagio and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

While on the bus, which only travels Saturdays and Sundays, you'll be offered IV therapy to rehydrate partiers. Anti-nausea medicine and vitamin treatments also are offered.   A doctor and two EMT (emergency medical technicians) will be on board but the doctor will be the only one to actually administer the IV's.

Patients can purchase "Redemption" - $130 ($90 introductory offer) - which uses IV fluids alone. Or they can add the nausea and vitamin therapy (Salvation, $150 intro offer).  Treatment takes a half-hour to 45 minutes.

You can reach them at: www.hangoverheaven.com.

Go buy a house in Negril, Jamaica

If you're anything like me, you love Jamaica.  Specifically, Negril.  I've always wondered what it'd be like to actually live in Negril.  Well, here's another chance to do it...

70 more units were just placed on the market in Negril's posh Little Bay Country Club complex.  The units are priced between $143,000US up to $899,000US.  All of the homes are upscale units and 70 units have already been sold.  Now it's phase II.

Little Bay Country Club is a gated community featuring a mix of villas, houses, townhouses and studios.   The entire property backs up to the ocean and there's a beach for the residents to enjoy.   Some of the features that all units enjoy at Little Bay Country Club  include:  porcelain floor tiles, stainless steel hardware, solar water heaters with electrical back up, 400 gallon water tanks and Euro-style kitchens with solid wood cabinets and granite countertops.

Amenities that come along with Little Bay Country Club include:  24 hour electronic and mobile security, clubhouse and swimming pool, on property postal boxes, a private beach and even a fish sanctuary.

(a view of the private beach at Little Bay Country Club)

Will we get in on this property?  Not just yet.  I need another solid decade of hard work here in America before I can run off to the islands.  But if I was in the market, this place would be worth checking out.

For more info about the complex call  (876) 926-4000 or (305) 677-9162.

MagicJack Plus - now you don't even need a computer!

MagicJackTM Plus can be used with or without a computer - it’s the customer’s choice.  Each  MagicJackTM Plus comes with an Ethernet (internet) cable and a Power Adapter.  You can, of course, still directly plug the MagicJackTM Plus into a computer’s USB port.  A USB extension cord is included with each MagicJackTM.  This option is especially useful or individuals who travel with their MagicJackTM Plus.

In addition to offering free local and long distance phone service throughout the United States and Canada (including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands) that will stay on at all times, customer’s existing phone numbers can now be transferred or “ported” to their MagicJackTM Plus.

Men's Journal - a great trip idea

I picked up a copy of this months Men's Journal (May 2012) and found a great little article about "sailing remote Bahamas."   It spoke about a great 6 day/5 night Bahamas sailing trip aboard a 21 foot Sea Pearl sailboat that only drafts 12 inches allowing you to explore a ton the island chain of Exuma.

The trip itself seems like it'll cost you around $2,500 or more when you add up the cost of the sailboat at $200 per day, rental gear, flights, food and more.  But...you can save on hotel costs as you'll be camping out on uninhabited islands along the way.

I'll be adding more about this trip idea as I get more info.   I'm pumped, I'm gonna do it!!!

I'm heading to Vegas!

So coming up soon I'll be in Vegas on a very short business trip.  Here's the deal I booked, which is pretty amazing.  Two (1) way trips to Vegas and back from Los Angeles for just $60 bucks each way on Southwest Airlines.

While in Vegas I got a room at the newer 4,004 room Aria Resort and Casino.  The cost?  $169 for the night.   I've never been to the Aria so I'm excited about that.  Any thoughts about the place?   Comment please.

I'll be sure to take along the new I-Pad, my MiFi device and blog along the way.  Let's see how much damage one man can do in Vegas in just over 24 hours.  :-)

Jetblue has the fastest airline website!

I remember doing a post about this a long time ago - which airline companies have the quickest websites.   Well, the powers-to-be, Compuware, have done their studies again and Jetblue is the big winner.

Loading up the front page of Jetblue took 4.237 according to Compuware and the slowest, United Airlines, took a whopping 18.284 seconds!   In this fast moving world of computers, smart phones and I-Pads, those extra 14 seconds really matter.  If you're anything like me, you move on if it's taking too long.

(winner winner, chicken dinner)

I did my own tests and yes, Jetblue was pretty quick using my laptop and yes, United Airlines was slower, but not terribly slower.

Airlines rounding out the top 10 in mobile site performance were Delta Air Lines, AirTran Airways (which is merging with Southwest Airlines) and American Airlines.  All had response times below seven seconds.

Test them out for yourself if you get bored:  #1.  Jetblue   &  #2.  United Airlines.

No more free cookies for you on Frontier Airlines

Jeez this economy is BAD.  Now Frontier Airlines is gonna stop serving it's warm cookies in flight once the current stock runs out.  By late May the cookies should be all gone thus entering the airline into an "ultra-low-cost" business model.

What's next, charging for barf bags?  :-)  Check out Frontier at: www.frontierairlines.com, to see if they got any better rates due to the soon-to-be missing cookies.
