Roatan Honduras - a divers paradise!

Oh Roatan!  I set foot in Roatan in the year 2000 on a quick cruise stop and ever since that date, I've always been fond of the island.  Roatan is a 37 mile long, 5 mile wide island that's about 30 miles off the north coast of Honduras.  Google Map of the Island.  The island has about 30,000 Hondurans that mostly work at the resorts and the tourism industry.

Roatan is located near the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, which is the largest barrier reef in the Caribbean Sea!  In fact it's second largest in the world to Australian's Great Barrier Reef.  Many of these reefs are "beach dive-able" or you can hop on any one of 100's of commercial dive boats and go out further.   With over 250,000 visitors to the island each year the locals depend on the foreign dollars that pour in.

If getting naked is on your must-do list, no worries.  You can visit Paya Bay Resort in Roatan that caters to nudist that also happen to enjoy diving.  The resort itself is not 100% nude 100% of the time.  They have certain weeks where the resort does transform into a nudist colony!   For a list, check here:  Paya Bay Resort Nude Weeks.  Paya Bay Resort has their resort divided into 3 zones:  1.  Nude  2.  Topless  3.  Clothed.

So if you want to visit an island that's got tons of diving, this is your place.  And as a side note, I should become a dual citizen of Honduras later this year.  I married a beautiful Honduran woman this year who's now a citizen of the USA so that entitles me to dual citizenship.   Perhaps you'll find us diving Roatan before you know it!

Fun summer drinks!

Ahhhhh, summer is back!   Ok, fine, it's not June 22nd just yet but if you're living in Los Angeles like we are you might just think it's then already!   So if you're at home laying out by the pool or on a tropical island it's time to think your drink!

Frozen drinks!   Nothing says "Summer" more than a frozen drink poolside.  Now when I say drink I don't necessarily mean yours has to have a splash of alcohol.  That's entirely up to you!  If it's too hot and you plan on being in the sun for a few hours just remember that alcohol will dehydrate you quicker.  

Getting started:

Use frozen fruit - if it's frozen you'll get that smooth consistency you're looking for.  Even 1/2 an hour in the freezer will freeze most fruit blender ready.

Add the liquid ingredients first - It's all in order people.  1.  The liquids (chilled preferably)  2.  The frozen fruit  3.  The ice tops it off.

Start the blender at a low speed and increase speed to get the desired texture. Too thicken the drink, just add ice. Too thin? Add more fruit or liquid.

Here's a time tested drink...

Strawberry daiquiri  (recipe for two people, as any drink should be)

1/4 cup light rum

2 teaspoons lime juice (ideally fresh)

2 cups of fresh frozen strawberries

2 cups of vanilla ice cream.

Place the rum and juice in the blender and mix. Then add the strawberries and ice cream and continue to blend. Start the blender on a low speed untilblending begins, then increase the speed. Pour into two cocktail or specialty glasses and garnish with a half strawberry or strawberry fan.

Oxygen Retreat Resort - one wicked place!

So for you single guys who like traveling to the tropics and want your vacation packages to include the women, you're in luck.   It seems the beautiful island of the Dominican Republic has a few options!   You might have read my first review on Viking Erotic Resort here, Viking Erotic Resort.  Well, another such place is Oxygen Resort.

This far out resort is specializing in something called a "Divorce Party".   So for you soon to be single married me if you have the dough left over from the divorce you could forget your troubles in this erotic paradise!  Of course it's not just for the heartbroken.  Single guys go for fun, businessmen and even couples go to Oxygen to explore their sexual side.

This resort works on the same all-inclusive concept that's been so very popular throughout the travel world.  They have a restaurant that holds up to 85 patrons and serves fresh food.  They have a on-site bakery and the dining hall is also equipped with a state-of-the-art sound system.  After you chow down, get your salsa on with one of the girls, I guess.
