The monorail in Las Vegas is in trouble

If you've been to Las Vegas you've probably either rode on the monorail or at least seen it in action as you walked the strip.  But as cool as it it, it's in financial trouble.  Reports out of Las Vegas Review-Journal have the monorail filling a bankruptcy reorganization plan that would erase more than 90% of its huge $658.8 million debt.  

Rides cost $5 a pop or $12 for a day pass on the monorail but not a lot of people are using it like developers had once thought would.   It started up in 2004 as a quick way to get from the MGM to Bally's but then expanded it's route to include more stops.  They had wanted to extend it to the airport where then it could possibly turn a profit as it would ferry visitors directly to and from the airport.

Time will tell if the monorail will survive, I hope it does.

Rianna is in Jamaica to shoot the "Man Down" video

Rihanna flew into Jamaica this weekend to shoot the video for "Man Down" a single off her album Loud that's still burning up the charts.  She's on the North coast of Jamaica in the Parish of Portland to shoot this, her 4th video for the album.

Former Miss USA says she was molested by the TSA

Well, I just did a post about Rihanna zipping thru LAX and getting a full body scan, but she didn't seem to mind.  Here's a story about former Miss USA Susie Castillo who refused to the scans due to radiation fears and opted for a full body scan instead.  But when the TSA agents at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport went in for the kill, she got way more than she bargained for.

According to a complaint card she left for officials, "My private area was grazed four times!"   TSA spokesman Luis Casanova defended the screening procedure. "Everything the screener did was according to protocol," Casanova said. "The issue at hand here is Ms. Castillo's feelings about the pat-down, whether it was done correctly. It was done correctly. She has discomfort about it.  For that, we're sorry."

Is there another privacy lawsuit coming?

Long live Atlantic Shores in Key West, FL

My first time being nude in public was in Key West at a resort called Atlantic Shores back in the mid 1990's.  I was just a young chap then and we went down there not having any idea of what to expect.   Atlantic Shores was located at 510 South Streeet in Key West but now it's a shiny new resort called Southernmost on the Beach that has 123 elegant furnished rooms.

Atlantic Shores was demolished in 2007 after years of nude fun for locals and tourists alike.  It was well known for having a huge deck and pool that faced the Caribbean-like waters of the Atlantic Ocean.  Was it a good place to jump in for first time nudity, sure, why not?   It did have a mixed crowd of straight couples, gay and lesbians plus everything in-between, and that's very much how Key West is overall.

So here's to a changing world but I'm glad we had the chance to check out Atlantic Shores while it was there.  Once gone, you can't ever go revisit.  Check out the new hotel on the old Atlantic Shores lot at:  www.southernmostresorts.com.

Sharks in the waters of Negril, Jamaica

Here's a home shot video of a shark in the waters of Negril Jamaica.  He was located a few months back and after a few people caught it on film, it apparently became dinner later that day.  :-(

It takes a long time for sharks to reproduce, unlike most fish.  Just to kill it for fun or for dinner, I'm not a big fan of - at all.   Sharks are not that rare in the waters of Negril, divers out of Hedonism II report seeing them on their dives fairly often.

Rihanna gets a full body scan at LAX

The one day I should have been working as a body scanner at LAX was April 27th, 2011.  That's the day my favorite Barbadian singer Rihanna went to the airport to fly away to somewhere less smoggy and gave whoever was working, the thrill of a lifetime.
