First it was the airlines, now it's the rental car companies. There's a battle going on between companies and the online travel sites that can book them. A few months ago Expedia went to battle with a few airlines, the airlines ended up pulling their flights from Expedia.
Now Enterprise rental cars are getting into the act pulling all of their deals off Orbitz starting April 1st, 2011. Enterprise, which operates the Alamo Rent A Car, National Car Rental, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car brands, says Orbitz demands "unacceptably high" commission rates, according to reports.
So the question becomes, will the travel booking websites reduce their costs to airlines, rental cars and hotel companies to end this travel battle?
