Yikes, 10,000 jellyfish wash up on a San Fran beach

Thousands of dinner plate-size jellyfish have been washing ashore in San Francisco all weekend leaving a layer of jellyfish goo on Ocean Beach.  Apparently, heavy ocean swells carried the little creatures to the beach starting Friday night and continuing through the weekend until an estimated 10,000 jellies were trapped on the sand.

Locals have been checking them out all week with kids kicked then, dogs rolled in them and surfers tossed them like Frisbees.  The jellyfish coating Ocean Beach are likely moon jellies, which have a mild sting that rarely penetrates human skin.

Is peeing on more serious jellyfish stings still a real remedy?
