Do you want some good Jamaican eats? Live in LA?

Here's a place that I always wanted to try but never got around to it till last weekend, Derrick's Jamaican Cuisine.   It's a Los Angeles chain (of 2) owned by a Jamaican man named, Derrick!  Duh.  He's got authentic Jamaican food going on and drinks at good prices.  The more "sit-down" restaurant of the two is located in the  Ladera Heights area and he's got another one in the USC area that's more get-and-go but very nice all the same.

Open from 11:00am to 9:00pm Sun - Thurs and Open from 11:00am to 10:00pm Fri. & Sat.

For lunch (11am to 4pm) you can order things like a Jerk Chicken Sandwich for $6 or a Tilapia Salad for $9 bucks among many other things.  Do you like Jamaican beef patties?  Get one for $3 on the lunch menu.  At night you can get "Derrick's famous Jerk Chicken" for $14 bucks or maybe a Grilled Vegetable Platter sounds better at 11 bucks.

 They also serve wine, Red Stripe, Ting and other local favorites to wash down that meal.  If you really wanna booze it up just show up for the weekday happy hours from 4pm to 7pm or a weekly wine tasting event every Thursday night at 5pm, Wine Tasting Info.   I enjoyed my run to Derrick's and dropped $22 bucks for a killer lucnch complete with two Tings.  The food was nice, the restaurant was nice and there was plenty of parking.  (I hit up the USC location)
