Cliff jumping at Rick's Cafe in Negril, Jamaica

Rick's Cafe in Negril Jamaica is a very famous hotspot for good drinks, sunsets and jumping off cliffs!   I've been to Ricks but I chickened out and didn't jump.  Was I being just a chicken, or smart?  The jump itself is about 35 feet from the top down into the warms waters of the Caribbean.  The jump itself is free but if you wanna tip the lifeguard who'll jump in after you break your ass it might be a good idea.

See the warning sign here, it warns you very clearly about the dangers of the jump.

Rick's itself was opened up in 1974 when Negril was still just a sleepy fishing/hippie village.   In September of 1988, Hurricane Gilbert completely destroyed Rick's Cafe. Waves in excess of 25 feet crashed over the cliffs and treetops. But Rick's rebuilt and reopened.  In 2004 Hurricane Ivan, with it's 50 feet waves, came calling again and once again, trashed Rick's.  But they rebuilt and since then, things have been calmer.

It's a great place to check out and should you decide to jump the cliffs is a call you'll have to make.  Visit Rick's online at: www.rickscafejamaica.com.
