Hotels are going more local for mini-bar snacks

When you hit up a lot of hotels you'll find the mini-bars stocked with things like Pringles, Snickers and other well known junk foods.  But there's a changing trend starting to happen with hotels - they're replacing these foods with more locally produced goodies.

For example Omni Berkshire hotel in NYC is starting to implement chips made locally in Long Island.  They're also looking at chocolate makers in the NYC area for products to satisfy your sweet tooth.   The world is moving towards more local and organic so hotels are starting to follow trend.

The Hotel Williamsburg, a boutique hotel set to open next month in Brooklyn, N.Y., plans to play up its location throughout the hotel - including in its mini-bars.  Expect to find North Fork chips, as well as other locally made goodies:  Brooklyn Hard Candy, a Malin+Goetz hemp candle, Brooklyn Brewery beer and Hudson single malt whiskey.

In Texas the new W Hotel is also following trend, it's mini-bar is stocked with local snacks/drinks such as Tito's Vodka, Paula's Texas Orange premium liqueur and Fireman's 4 from Austin brewery Real Ale.

Do you all like your M&M's or do you like the idea of local goodies at your local hotel?
