Coupon website 'Living Social' makes an offer too good to be true...

Have you guys heard of 'Living Social', a website that hooks you up with coupons and hot deals?   They're an international social buying company based out of Washington, DC that offers "deal-of-the-day" specials much like Groupon.

Well, a San Francisco hotel on Nob Hill, The Fairmont - www.fairmont.com/sanfrancisco, offered a package that included a stay in a luxurious suite and an extraordinarily attractive bonus:  perk-rich lifetime VIP status with the entire Fairmont chain.  The cost:  either $2,000 or $10,000.   For those who understood the package got on the deal in hours and soon 117 people had already snatched up the offers.

(The San Fran Fairmont and it's typical $250 and up nightly rates)

Then Fairmont pulled the deal early even tho it was to run till March 1st, 2011.  However, whatever deals that were sold will be honored by the hotel chain.   What makes this such a hot deal?  When you have VIP status with the Fairmont chain you get treated like freaking royalty anytime you step in their hotels.

Examples of their VIP treatment
  • One complimentary free night certificate annually.
  • Two complimentary suite upgrade certificates per year.
  • Two complimentary room upgrade certificates per year.
  • $100 Fairmont dining certificate or Willow Stream Spa certificates each year.
  • Monthly notice of special rates.
Fairmont issued a statement about the VIP take-a-way...

"The Fairmont San Francisco's Living Social package included an unintentional human error. Regardless of the miscommunication the Fairmont San Francisco will honor every Living Social package as it was marketed and sold."
