Woolite sells these little packets of cleaner that lets you, the lonely traveler, to look you best even while on the road. Here's a box of 20 foil packets to tuck into a corner of your luggage for convenient en route washing of delicate fabrics without shrinking, stretching or fading. They cost about $11 bucks, well worth the price!
Woolite works great for washing clothes in hotel sinks while traveling. These packets are 1/4 ounce each, and one packet is recommended for a sinkful of water. The instructions say to soak the clothes for 3 minutes and then rise. Woolite rinses off very easily (unlike laundry detergent). There's no scent to worry about either.
